Take yourself back to a time when people smiled and said good morning to one another, where children were welcomed with open arms and you felt safe. 1963? No, this is a description of the Western Algarve now!

The main town of Lagos boasts an interesting and far-reaching history. When you walk along the dragon tooth paving and tiny backstreets you are transported back to an easier, simpler time. However, that doesn't mean to say that Lagos is stuck in the past, it has lots on offer, from traditional handicrafts and antiques to breathtaking interiors outlets and fashionable clothing stores.

The restaurants run from the sublime to the ridiculous and offer great variety and are excellent value for money. The most striking feature of the Western Algarve are the vast expanses of wide open spaces Many tracks run through cork, eucalyptus and pine forests down to hidden coves where you can be completely alone, with a whole beach to yourself.

There are many varied beaches to explore along the south and west coast lines. The southern beaches are gentler, whilst the western coast is more dramatic with white water rushing to the shore, carrying many a brave surfer.

The countryside is constantly changing but how refreshing to see wild lavender, rosemary and an array of fruit trees growing in an unspoilt landscape that you are able to walk amongst to find yet another undiscovered beach or cove.

If you want a holiday full of sunshine, laughter and smiles look no further than the many delights that the Western Algarve has to offer.
